Winter Whipper at Lake Louise

A winter whipper by Zach Colbran in a video by Jon Walsh at Lake Louise, Alberta, on a route called Lowe Impact.
It was first climbed by Rob Owens and Eammon Walsh in 2001 at M8. It was a direct line into Captain Hook, first climbed by Grant Statham and Dion Bretzloffe in the 90s. It follows a steep quartzite corner on gear. “Was one of my first routes on leashless tools I recall,” said Owens.
“I duct taped and hose clamped a homemade pinky rest onto the bottom of my quarks.” It formed for the first time in over 10 years in 2023. “Definitely a unique and amazing pitch of trad mixed climbing,” said Jon Walsh, who shot the first video of Zac Colbran falling and who climbed it in the second clip. “Thanks Colbran and Grant Stewart for the great day earlier this week, the footage, and for getting the send train started. Had to keep it steady to clip the chains on this one.”
