Whipper and Hard Gear Sends in Tasmania!

Whipper and Hard Gear Sends in Tasmania!

These are a few flashbulb memories from Sonnie Trotter’s time climbing at the Star Factory in Tasmania with Will Stanhope, a quick three-day hit in the summer of 2016 that left a mark far deeper than the calendar would suggest. He talks about the place with a kind of reverence: an amphitheater of orange granite leaning ever so slightly over the sea, a dreamy fusion of sport and trad, wrapped in that crisp Tasmanian breeze. For Trotter, it was one of the coolest crags he’d ever touched.

With limited time and perfect weather, he and the crew squeezed everything they could out of each tide and each slant of sunlight. The Freycinet Peninsula stood out as a highlight, raw, cinematic, almost too beautiful to absorb, though in Trotter’s eyes, every corner of Tasmania they sampled was unforgettable. This short collection of moments was captured by Cameron Meier‬.

WHIPPER: Watch the lead up to Will's big whipper starting around 13 minutes in and watch the whipper below.
