Janja Garnbret's 5.14 Onsights

Janja Garnbret, widely regarded as one of the greatest competition climbers ever, recently achieved her fourth and fifth 5.14b onsights. In 2025, she plans to focus more on outdoor rock climbing, limiting her competition schedule to three World Cups.

Her first 5.14b onsight was the iconic 50-meter Fish Eye 5.14b in Oliana, Spain, in 2021, marking the first confirmed female onsight of a 5.14b. First climbed by Chris Sharma in 2009, Garnbret shared modestly on social media: “Enjoying the days in Oliana! Two days ago I did my first 8c [5.14b] onsight Fish Eye.” Days later, she onsighted the nearby American Hustle 5.14b, first ascended by Sam Elias in 2014. Only Cedric Lachat has also onsighted both routes. Garnbret noted, “Right after I posted about onsighting my first 8c, I onsighted my 2nd 8c American Hustle. Good days in Oliana.”

Earlier this year, she onsighted Popolni mrk 5.14b at Mišja Peč, Slovenia. This week, she announced two more 5.14b onsights in Osp/Mišja Peč: Osapska pošast L2 and Working Class Hero. Garnbret is now headed to Céüse, France, home to legendary routes like Biographie 5.15a and Bibliographie 5.15c.
