Garnbret Sends V15, Megos Onsights 14b and More

In a spectacular series of ascents that have electrified the climbing world, three of the sport’s biggest names—Janja Garnbret, Alex Megos, and Martin Tekles—have each pulled off remarkable achievements across Europe this season. From Ticino’s granite blocs to Spain’s steep limestone walls, their performances reflect the highest levels of strength, precision, and perseverance.

Janja Garnbret’s Dream Day in Ticino: Olympic champion and all-around climbing phenom Janja Garnbret kicked off her Ticino trip with a day that could hardly have gone better. Her “dream first day” featured a trio of world-class boulder sends: she started with the legendary Dreamtime (8C), followed it up with The Dagger (8B), and wrapped up the day on La Proue (8B).

“Dream first day in Ticino started with the send of Dreamtime 8C, continued with The Dagger 8B and ended with La Proue 8B 🤩,” she shared enthusiastically. “Excited for the days to come!!”

Known for her competition dominance, Garnbret’s return to outdoor bouldering highlights her versatility and enduring passion for real rock. Few climbers can match her ability to seamlessly transition from plastic holds under bright lights to granite under the open sky—and do so with such composure and joy.

Alex Megos Keeps It Flowing With ‘Severance’ Onsight: Meanwhile, in a stunning display of pure efficiency and power, Alex Megos has added another onsight to his ever-growing list of hard sport climbs. His uncut footage of Severance (5.14b) in Red River Gorge shows the German climber moving through an overhanging wall of pocketed limestone with characteristic fluidity.

“For all of you who like watching a bit of a ‘left right left right’ on pockets through an overhanging wall,” Megos captioned the footage. He also credited Jonathan Horst for bolting the route and the first ascent, and Ash Branch Climbing for providing access to the crag. “Thanks for recommending and enabling this cool place,” he added.

Megos’s send reinforces his position among the world’s most consistent onsight climbers. Whether on home rock in Frankenjura or abroad, his ability to read difficult terrain on the fly remains virtually unmatched.

Martin Tekles Completes His Obsession: ‘La Planta de Shiva’ (9b): Czech powerhouse Martin Tekles has capped off a long and emotional battle with the iconic La Planta de Shiva (9b) in Villanueva del Rosario, Spain—a line first established by Adam Ondra in 2011.

“With two 9a+’s under my belt, I’ve finally sent La Planta de Shiva,” Tekles announced. “Such an amazing route—so long, hard, and difficult to get every move right. The process was very hard, but I don’t regret it. It was worth every day and every try.”

Tekles’s journey spanned nearly a year. His first visit in December 2023 was marked by freezing temperatures that made the tiny crimps nearly impossible to hold. Later trips in spring brought rain and humidity; summer was too hot. Determined, Tekles returned home to focus on training his crimpy endurance, then came back in March 2025 for one last push.

“The last four weeks were a rollercoaster,” he said. “I kept falling around the same moves. Sometimes I couldn’t even match my previous high point. But it became an obsession. You know you can do it—even when it doesn’t look that way—and you just can’t stop. I’m glad I didn’t.”

His ascent places him firmly among the world’s elite, joining a small circle of climbers who have conquered one of Spain’s most revered testpieces.

Three Climbers, One Message: From Garnbret’s joyful precision to Megos’s technical mastery and Tekles’s relentless determination, these three ascents capture the spirit of modern climbing—where artistry, endurance, and mental grit meet the beauty of the natural world.

Each of these climbers continues to push the limits in their own way, reminding the community that whether it’s a granite boulder, a pocketed wall, or a Spanish mega-route, the essence of climbing remains the same: focus, persistence, and the love of the climb.
