Last year, Slovenia's Domen Škofic repeated Chilam Balam 5.15a/b, the 200-move stamina testpiece (80+ meters) at Villanueva del Rosario, first climbed by Bernabé Fernandez in 2003 (suggested 5.15c). Domen just dropped a new video of the send, watch below.
Adam Ondra's 2011 repeat downgraded it to 5.15b; knee-bars and rests later settled it at 5.15a/b. Škofic calls it legendary beyond grades: "Every climber who did and will do this beast will feel something incredible. The last slab is a killer... Nothing is granted until the very end."
He dreamed of it for years, started trying last month, and found the journey tough but enjoyable. A 2016 Lead World Cup winner, post-retirement he built Climbing Ranch gym near Ljubljana. Previously up to 5.15a, this ascent shows his high-end capability.
