A Chris Sharma Route UPGRADED to 5.15a!

Chris Sharma made the first ascent of Gancho Perfecto in 2008 at 5.14d but it was upgraded to 5.15a. It's had 11 repeats on the books, including by Adam Ondra, Toby Roberts and Domen Skofic.

A translated news article from Desnivel in 2008 reads: "For several weeks, Mr. Sharma had been throwing himself at the hard lines, taking serious attempts on the huge project in Santa Linya, Neanderthal (9b?), and his new send in Margalef could be the final stepping stone toward unlocking it.

"The Californian has claimed the first grade 9 of the area with Gancho Perfecto (9a). It’s Sharma’s third hard send of the season, following Fuck the System (9a) and Mercenaris del Passat (8c+), which he climbed without using a chipped hold and for which he even suggested a potential grade upgrade. Once again, the American shows that when he’s motivated, anything is possible, that inspiration comes and goes, but the desire to climb real rock never dies."
